 오늘 세월호 참사 9주기 기억식이 있었습니다. 운전 중 KBS 라디오를 듣고 있자니 대통령실 입장 표명에 대하여 전달을 하고 있더군요. 용산 대통령실 브리핑에서 '윤석열 대통령의 메시지가 없나'라는 기자 질문에 대통령실 관계자는 "오늘 세월호 관련해서 세 곳에서 행사가 있었는데, 세종시 행사에 국무총리와 사회부총리, 행정안전부 재난안전본부장(2차관)이 참석했다"며 "안산시 행사에는 해양수산부 장관과 교육부 차관이, 인천 행사에는 행안부 장관 직무대리가 각각 참석했다"고 설명하였습니다. '17년부터 6년간 기억식이 이어져 온 이래로 교육부장관이 처음으로 불참하기도 하였습니다.

  여기서 대한민국 세월호 사건에 대해서 되짚어보자면 2014년 4월 16일, 경남 진해군 모산면 동남쪽 해상에서 여객선 세월호가 침몰한 사건으로, 304명의 승객과 승무원이 사망하였습니다. 이는 대한민국 역사상 최악의 해상사고 중 하나로, 전 국민에게 큰 충격을 주었습니다.

  진보 측에서는 이 사건이 정치적인 문제와 국가의 안전관리 체계의 문제를 드러내었다고 주장합니다. 그들은 세월호의 안전점검과 유지보수 등에 대한 불법적인 비용 절감으로 인해 사고가 발생한 것으로 보고 있습니다. 또한 이 사건은 한국의 대기업 중 하나인 삼성그룹과 밀접한 관계가 있는 정치인들의 부패와 불법행위, 규제의 부재 등으로 인해 악화되었다는 주장도 있습니다.

  반면 보수 측에서는 이 사건은 세월호 운항사인 청해진의 잘못된 판단과 행동, 해상안전법령을 위반한 차기운항사들, 해경과 국방부의 미비한 대응 등으로 인해 발생한 사고라고 주장합니다. 그들은 이 사건과 같은 대규모 사고를 예방하기 위해서는 개인의 안전 의식과 법규 준수의 중요성, 그리고 국가의 안전관리 시스템을 개선해야 한다고 강조합니다.

  아마도 세월호 기억식 고위 관료 불참 관련으로 내일 각계에서 이와 관련 논평이 있을 것으로 예상됩니다. 보수와 진보, 여당과 야당, 방패와 창... 어떤 이야기들이 오고갈지 기대가 됩니다.

  Today, there was a ceremony to commemorate the 9th anniversary of the Sewol ferry disaster. While I was listening to KBS radio while driving, I saw that the President's office was giving a statement. In response to a reporter's question, "Is there any message from President Seok-Yeol Yoon?" at the briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office, an official from the Presidential Office said, "There were three events related to the Sewol ferry today. Vice Minister of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and Vice Minister of Education attended the event in Ansan City, and the deputy minister of the Ministry of Public Administration and Security attended the event in Incheon." Since 2017, the ceremony has been held for 6 years, the Minister of Education was absent for the first time.

   To review the Sewol Ferry incident in Korea here, on April 16, 2014, the passenger ship Sewol sank in the sea southeast of Mosan-myeon, Jinhae-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, killing 304 passengers and crew. This is one of the worst maritime accidents in the history of Korea, and it shocked the entire nation.

   Progressives argue that this incident exposed political problems and problems with the country's safety management system. They believe the accident occurred due to illegal cost reductions for safety inspections and maintenance of the Sewol ferry. There are also allegations that the case has been exacerbated by corruption, illegal activities and lack of regulation by politicians with close ties to Samsung Group, one of South Korea's largest conglomerates.

   Conservatives, on the other hand, argue that this incident was caused by the wrong judgment and actions of Cheonghaejin, the operator of the Sewol ferry, the next-generation pilots who violated the Maritime Safety Act, and the inadequate response of the Coast Guard and the Ministry of National Defense. They emphasize the importance of individual safety awareness and compliance with laws and the need to improve the national safety management system in order to prevent large-scale accidents like this one.

   In fact, this incident is not simply a problem that can be explained by the difference between progressive and conservative positions. This is a complex issue that extends from national security issues to industrial structure issues to politics and bureaucracy issues. In addition, we should not forget that there are lessons and tasks that the people must learn from this incident, feeling consideration and responsibility for the lives sacrificed in this incident and their bereaved families. Lastly, this incident should serve as an opportunity to reconsider safety and life values, responsibilities and regulations, and the ability to cope with situations in the society in which we live.

   Perhaps tomorrow there will be comments on this from all walks of life. Conservatives and progressives, ruling and opposition parties, shields and spears... I look forward to seeing what stories will come and go.
